PROTOCOL
It is my pleasure and honour to welcome you all to this epoch-making ceremony. I am particularly delighted to welcome the Executive Governor of Ekiti - State, Mr Peter Ayodele Fayose to this important ceremony. I am also pleased to welcome the member of the State Executive Council here present to today's distribution of agricultural lime and cassava inputs to farmers of the state.
I wish to specially appreciate Mr. Governor for approving the conduct of this exercise and for his continuous display of love and affection for farmers and agricultural development of the state as exemplified by the several supportive events of the recent past and that of today.
The present administration realized the fact that agriculture development in Ekiti - State will unlock untapped potentials for lifting many people out of poverty, hence, its pride of place as one of the five cardinal programmes of the Fayose-led administration, succinctly increased agricultural production towards ensuring food security and self-reliance. It is pertinent to inform this august gathering, particularly our hardworking farmers that the implementation of the 'Stomach Infrastructure Philosophy' of this administration adopts a multi-sectoral approach which among other things will promote development of agriculture in the state.
The implication of this is that the State Government under the leadership of Mr. Ayodele Fayose, the Executive Governor of Ekiti State is ready to support the attainment of massive agricultural production through the provision of necessary and affordable assistance to farmers to ensure enough farm output for local consumption and export. I therefore implore all the farmers in the state to give maximum support to the realization of the laudable vision of the present administration to develop agriculture.
I also wish to appreciate the state Government's partnership with the Federal Government of Nigeria which resulted in the provision of the agricultural lime that will be freely distributed to you today. This lime is a soil conditioner to reinvigorate, rejuvenate, and restore acidic soil to a productive state.
The procurement and distribution of cassava inputs facilitated by the Nigeria Cassava Growers Association is also a novel stride that makes us happy, as this is the way to go now. I advise other farmers' associations to emulate this gesture.
I hereby enjoin all the beneficiaries of these packages to make judicious use of them to enhance their productivity and income.
Once more, I welcome you all to this occasion.
Thank you and God bless you all.
